I hope to be your lighthouse. Lighthouses are a powerful symbol of hope in the midst of stormy waters. “A lighthouse doesn’t save the ships; it doesn’t go out and rescue them, its just this pillar that helps to guide people home.” – Lea Michele.

“Healing is not about erasing the past, but changing how it lives in the present.”

Individual Therapy

Individual Therapy offers clients high-quality, personalized support in a one-to-one setting with a registered mental health professional. My practice supports individuals experiencing PTSD and complex trauma symptoms, anxiety, depression, anger, work-related burnout, grief, and those impacted by sexual or domestic abuse.

My approach is attachment-informed, with careful attention to family history, early relationships, and unresolved childhood experiences that may continue to influence emotional responses, belief systems, and relational patterns. I integrate polyvagal theory to help clients understand how their nervous system responds to stress, trauma, and safety, and how life experiences can shape mood, energy levels, and emotional regulation. Therapy also focuses on developing effective grounding and regulation strategies, as well as supporting clients in creating a lifestyle that promotes nervous system balance and overall well-being.

Central to this work is cultivating self-forgiveness, self-acceptance, and self-compassion, helping clients move away from self-blame and toward a kinder, more understanding relationship with themselves. Clients are also supported in understanding the difference between self-care and coping strategies, so healing is reinforced not only in session, but in everyday life as well.

My therapeutic approach is focused on empowering clients to develop lasting skills, deepen self-awareness, and strengthen emotional regulation, with the ultimate goal of enabling them to support themselves with clarity, compassion, and confidence beyond the therapy room.

EMDR Therapy for Adults

I specialize in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, an evidence-based approach recognized for its effectiveness in treating both past and recent trauma. EMDR can be effective for both “big T” trauma and “small t” trauma. Big T trauma often involves clearly identifiable, overwhelming events such as physical, sexual, or emotional abuse; serious accidents or medical trauma; violence or assault; natural disasters; or sudden loss. Small t trauma includes experiences that may not appear traumatic on the surface but can have lasting emotional effects, especially when they are chronic or occur during childhood, such as emotional neglect, chronic criticism or invalidation, bullying, growing up in a high-stress or unpredictable environment, attachment wounds, or experiences that lead to persistent feelings of shame, fear, or not being “good enough.”

Trauma is defined not by how dramatic an event appears, but by how it is experienced and stored in the nervous system, and EMDR helps the brain reprocess these memories so they no longer feel stuck in the present, allowing for greater emotional relief, resilience, and self-compassion.

EMDR is not quick work; meaningful and lasting change typically unfolds over time, often requiring approximately 12 to 18 weekly sessions, and in some cases more, depending on the individual and the complexity of the experiences being addressed. EMDR can be especially helpful for individuals who have already engaged in therapy or personal healing work and have developed insight and self-awareness, yet continue to feel held back by emotional reactions, patterns, or symptoms that don’t seem to fully shift. When understanding alone hasn’t led to lasting change, EMDR works at a deeper, nervous-system level to help unresolved experiences finally process, allowing insights to translate into meaningful, long-term relief and growth.

In addition, I have advanced training in the Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol (R-TEP), an EMDR protocol designed to stabilize clients facing traumatic stress and process recent traumatic events before they become deeply ingrained as maladaptive memories.  I have completed a Trauma Certificate through Wilfrid Laurier University, which has further strengthened my understanding of trauma-informed practice and its application across diverse populations.
