Before anything else, I’m a human being who believes in the power of genuine human connection.

My Therapeutic Approach

My work is grounded in trauma-informed counselling and shaped by both professional training and lived experience. I believe therapy is not about “fixing” you, it is about creating a safe, compassionate space where you can explore your story with clarity, courage, and self-understanding.

Together, we gently process past experiences, explore how they impact your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, and build the tools needed to live more fully and intentionally in the present. I integrate warmth, perspective, honesty, and even humor into our work. Healing can be serious and meaningful, and it can also include lightness and moments of relief.

As a trauma-informed therapist, I focus on safety, collaboration, and empowerment. I honor the resilience that allowed you to survive difficult experiences while helping you develop new ways to thrive.

My office is a cozy space located on the third floor of a building in downtown St Thomas. While it is unfortunately not elevator accessible, it has been thoughtfully created with intention. I believe that the spaces we inhabit reflect who we are. With that in mind, I designed this space to feel safe, inviting, and nurturing. The objects throughout the office are not random; they carry meaning and warmth, contributing to an environment that supports reflection, comfort, and meaningful therapeutic work.

As a therapist, I am grounded in kindness and authenticity, and I believe in offering honesty in ways that are compassionate and respectful. I approach each client with cultural awareness and sensitivity, recognizing the unique experiences and identities that shape who you are. Rather than focusing on pathology, I focus on resilience , the strengths and survival strategies that have carried you this far. I believe meaningful growth happens through self-understanding, and that your past, while important, does not define your future. Above all, I see you as the expert of your own life. My role is not to lead your path, but to walk beside you offering insight, and support as you move through your healing and growth.

I believe:

  • Our past experiences shape us, but they do not imprison us.

  • Trauma and strength can coexist.

  • Healing is not about erasing the past, but learning how to safely hold it.

  • Growth happens in safe, attuned relationships.

  • Self-awareness creates choice and choice creates change.

“What has happened in the past can live alongside your present, without defining it.”

My Motivation

My journey into psychotherapy has been long, eventful, and deeply rewarding. Moving to Canada from Eastern Europe at thirteen, living in multiple countries and provinces, and ultimately finding home in St. Thomas taught me something profound:

“Sometimes we must travel far to discover where we truly belong.”

My professional path included working with youth and adults in community and correctional settings before pursuing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. Completing a Trauma Certificate through Wilfrid Laurier University deepened my commitment to trauma-informed practice.

My lived experiences, including childhood trauma and vicarious trauma within professional roles, have given me deep respect for the effort, courage, and tenacity required to heal. I know the work is not easy. I also know it is possible.
